Death is unnatural and it brings much sorrow and pain. But Christ reminds us that there is something that is worst than death – His future judgment. Christ’s death affirms the certainty of this judgment as well as provides a way out from this judgment. Our response of faith in Jesus Christ in this world guarantees our hope for heaven in the future.
We want change and we want them quick. God desires for us to change too. But the change that He desires for us is much better than the change we want for ourselves. The change that Jesus wants for us is more than just behavioral change; it involves our heart change.
When we are too full of ourselves, we become too full for God. We are all helpless without God. When we humble ourselves, we make space for God’s mercy to bring hope into our lives.
Running away from God always seems like freedom until reality hits and it ends in misery. When we are not attached to God, we will find something else or someone else to attach to. But the Good News is that God shows us His radical love and grace through His son Jesus so that we can return home.
We all have failed. We all have sinned. Second chances in this world is hard to come by. But we have a God, who is rich in mercy, sees our sins and loves us unconditionally.
