The ending of a story always determines how good that story is. In God’s story, He has the most perfect ending with His glory being displayed and His people fully restored with Him in His presence. With this future reality in sight, Christ’s followers must persevere in the present and must invite others who are thirsty to come to the King.
In order for us to shine for Jesus in this dark world, we must be convicted of the greatness of our salvation. The gift of salvation guarantees us a living hope for an inheritance in heaven. Our assurance of salvation is actualized through present trials and suffering. And our salvation is built upon God’s divine orchestration of people’s sacrifices and obedience.
Death is unnatural and it brings much sorrow and pain. But Christ reminds us that there is something that is worst than death – His future judgment. Christ’s death affirms the certainty of this judgment as well as provides a way out from this judgment. Our response of faith in Jesus Christ in this world guarantees our hope for heaven in the future.
