In order for us to shine for Jesus in this dark world, we must be convicted of the greatness of our salvation. The gift of salvation guarantees us a living hope for an inheritance in heaven. Our assurance of salvation is actualized through present trials and suffering. And our salvation is built upon God’s divine orchestration of people’s sacrifices and obedience.
The Apostle John was exhorting his audience (believers) to pray for one another especially those who are in sin. Believers have been saved by grace through faith. We are spared of eternal death and separation from God. Yet our salvation does not preclude us from sinning in this world. We must take sins seriously in our lives and in the lives of our brothers and sisters.
